Creating a Journal Entry in ASBWorks

Journal entries in ASBWorks are used to move funds between accounts or correct previous entries. This is a useful tool for maintaining accurate financial records.


Steps to Create a Journal Entry

  1. From the main menu, select Ledger ->Journal Entry
  2. Enter the Date: This is the date the transaction should be recorded.
  3. Add a Memo: Provide a brief description of the purpose of the journal entry. This helps with future audits and reviews.
  4. Select the Account to debit or credit.
  5. Enter the Amount.
  6. Choose Debit or Credit.
  7. Ensure the Entry is Balanced
  8. The total debits must equal the total credits before you can save.
  9. Double-check account numbers, amounts, and descriptions.
  10. Click Save

Tips

Use journal entries for internal transfers, corrections, or adjustments.

Always include clear memos and descriptions for transparency.
